What kind of school is Pioneer Academy?
Pioneer Academy is an independent, co-educational, private, college-preparatory school for day and boarding students from Pre-K to Grade 12, located in Wayne, NJ.
Pioneer Academy is an independent day and boarding school for grades PreK through 12. Pioneer Academy facilitates STREAM education (Science, Technology, Reading/Research, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) to ensure college readiness and overall success in life. Pioneer Academy provides a well-rounded, character-building education through challenging interdisciplinary curricula, stimulating extra-curricular activities and community involvement. We seek to instill a life-long passion for learning, a strong sense of moral responsibility, and a welcoming of diversity.
How do I apply to Pioneer Academy?
You may fill out an online application at our website www.pioneeracademy.org. Under admissions, you will see ‘’apply now.’’ You may also schedule a school tour by contacting the Admissions Department via email firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 973-405-5169 x120. Walk-in tours are also available, these take place Monday-Friday between 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, and Saturdays between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
When is the application deadline?
We offer enrollment both for Fall and Spring Semesters. Late applications may be accepted depending on availability of spaces. We offer Early and Regular Decision options.
What differentiates PA from other independent schools?
Pioneer Academy reflects the diversity, vibrancy, and strong community spirit of its town. Does Pioneer Academy offer Honors/AP courses?
Yes, Pioneer Academy offers 16 Honors and 13 AP Courses.
Does PA provide any extended day care?
Yes. Although students may arrive as early as 7:30am. Extended Day is offered until 5:40pm.
What is the average classroom size?
12 to 20 students in regular courses
5 – 20 students for Honors/AP courses 7 to 12 students for ESL courses
Does Pioneer Academy accept International Students?
Yes, Pioneer Academy accepts International students as well as local day students and domestic boarding students.
What Testing Is Required?
Students who are applying to K through 2nd grade are assessed by our Grade teachers. Students who are applying to Grades 3-12 are required to provide standardized test results SSAT, PSAT, NWEA Map Test, SAT, ACT, TOEFL or IELTS and/or take NWEA Map Test as an entrance test.
What services are offered by the College Counseling Department?
In order to produce the best possible match between each student, the college, and university, we offer personalized college counseling plans that are designed for strong college applications.
We also arrange all necessary materials for standardized test preparations, schedule practice test dates, analyze test scores, GPA, and course requirements for colleges. Other services include: After school programs are arranged depending on the needs of each student. College visits and presentations are arranged for all students and grades. Helping students understand the principles of writing college application essays. Assisting students with their college applications.
Do you have daily study hours for boarding students?
Pioneer Academy offers two hours of supervised study-time five days a week during the evening. Pioneer Academy also has scheduled academic enrichment programs on certain Saturdays throughout the school year.

How is the environment at Pioneer Academy?
Pioneer Academy fosters a healthy, safe, and positive learning environment for all of it’s students. With over 180 cameras and 24-hour security on campus, we monitor all suspicious activity and ensure the safety of our students.
What is PA’s tuition? Are there any hidden costs?
For the complete description of tuition and additional fees by grade, visit the Tuition & Fees page. We seek to minimize additional fees; however they typically range from $100-$2,000 depending on grade and student involvement.
Does Pioneer Academy Offer Sibling Discount?
First Sibling to Enroll : Regular Tuition Fee (undiscounted) Second Sibling to Enroll :10% Discount Third and all additional Siblings : 20% Discount *Please note: The Sibling Discount applies to siblings only (brothers and sisters, not cousins or other relatives) **The Sibling Discount is 10% for int’l students.
Does Pioneer Academy have a dress code?
Yes. Pioneer Academy uniform consists of official Pioneer Academy navy blue chinos and the official Pioneer Academy polo shirt, either long-sleeved or short-sleeved. Students are required to attend school in full school uniform every day unless otherwise specified. Full information detailing the required uniform items is found at the following website address.
When should I apply for financial aid?
Financial aid applications should be submitted at the same time as the admissions application. We will notify you of both the admissions and financial aid decisions at the same time. Please remember that Pioneer Academy is not able to offer financial assistance until grade 4.
How do I log in to see my child's application status?
Make sure you are not logging in on the site's home page; that login is for Pioneer Academy community members. Applicants must log in from the Admissions webpage or by clicking the button for Returning Visitors below.
Do you have age cut off for Kindergarten/Pre-K?
Yes, applicants must be 5 years old by October 1 in the year they will begin Kindergarten. And applicants must be 3 years old by September 1 in the year they will begin Pre-K. However there are no certain deadlines to register in Pre-K as a result of aging in.
