The Pioneer Academy of Science
Reader of the Month Award
Scholars at Pioneer Academy of Science can achieve the PAS Reader of the Month Award by 1) reading the most pages per month, 2) reading the most books per month, or 3) showing the greatest improvement rate in reading per month. Scholars can reach this goal by reading at least one half an hour each and every night, and are judged by daily monitoring, their progress on Accelerated Reader Reading Practice Quizzes, and participation in Reading Conferences. One Student from each grade is awarded a prize of one $25 gift certificate (hopefully to spend on more books!). At the beginning of each month the challenge starts anew.
